The Theme

The products are inspired by Urban Playground and Nostalgia, drawing from everyday memories of growing up in Indian cities. Elements from parks, street play, school furniture, and informal urban spaces influenced the form language and interaction of the designs.

These references were reinterpreted into contemporary products that balance playfulness with simplicity, creating objects that feel familiar, warm, and rooted in culture while remaining relevant to modern living.

Overview

01

During my time at The Plated Project, I worked under the mentorship of Naomi Karodt and alongside founder Chitresh Sinha, contributing to furniture and home product design projects focused on material honesty, functionality, and emotional connection. This phase of my journey helped me understand how design decisions translate from concept to real, manufacturable products. I was involved in multiple stages of the design pipeline — from early ideation and research to form development, detailing, and refinement — while aligning with the studio’s minimal, material-driven design philosophy.

Process

The design process followed a structured yet flexible workflow that balanced creativity with practicality. It began with understanding the brief, user context, and brand language, followed by reference study, sketching, and concept generation. Concepts were then evaluated based on usability, proportions, material feasibility, and visual harmony.
